5 months

Hard to believe this little munchkin is 5 months old already and will soon have been around for half of a year. Where does the time go?! Everyone tells you that it flies by, so enjoy every moment... its difficult to understand just how true this is until you are living it.
There are lots of things we can already say "remember when she would..." and reminisce about the first terrifying days of being at home, the sleepless nights, the breastfeeding struggles, the first smiles, the cuddling and rocking her to sleep... now she's eating solid foods and almost sitting on her own. Yikes, I'm afraid we'll blink and she'll be walking, going to Kindergarten, borrowing the car... Ok maybe that's a bit extreme :)
Zoe girl, we cannot imagine life without you and are so blessed to be your parents. You bring us so much joy! We just love you to pieces.

Walking in the Rain

So yesterday we went for a walk in the rain. No, that's not a picture of us but posts are just better with pictures, don't you agree? And I happen to love this one. Anyway, I've been trying to go for a walk every day. I find that the exercise feels good for me, helps jump start my day, and also seems to help Zoe get through awake time when she is fussy. Yesterday was a rainy day and I waited as long as I could with hopes of it tapering off but finally decided to just go out anyway since it only seemed to be sprinkling. Of course not 5 minutes into it, it started raining pretty hard... but it felt good to me and Zoe didn't seem to mind even though her legs and feet got pretty wet. I scoffed at the idea of a rain shield for the stroller before, but now I'm considering getting one... except that the specific one for my stroller is $40... anyone have experience with a universal one?

Crabby Celebration

5 years ago we enjoyed crabs from the Chesapeake Bay in Rock Hall, MD on our honeymoon.

This year for our anniversary we got crabs from the waterfront market in DC and ate them overlooking the Anacostia River while enjoying a free concert and beautiful weather. And since wood is the traditional anniversary gift for year 5, Geoff fittingly got me a wooden mallet for crackin crabs!
Yes, we happily celebrated our anniversary with a little girl in tow, but while we were out she downed 4 oz. from a bottle for the first time ever, so perhaps there is more freedom in our future!

Still the One

~6.9.12~
5 years.
5 cities.
5 addresses.
5 cars. (including a station wagon and a van)
2 degrees.
1 dog.
1 baby.

This past year has brought the most change, the most excitement, the most tears, the most sleeplessness, the most grace, the most joy, the most fun. So thankful for the man God gave me to share this life with~ concussion induced or not, you're still the one that makes my head (and heart) spin.
Happy 5th Anniversary babe!

4 months

This post is quite late seeing as little Z is almost 5 months now, but you'll overlook that won't you? Its difficult to make time for blog posting during nap time when there are several (hundred) other things calling for my attention and such a limited time for me to get them done! I applaud those mamas out there who are so faithful about it.

At 4 months, Zoe measured in at 15 lbs 1 oz and 24 1/2 inches long. She continues to be around the 75th percentile for height and weight and we're so blessed with a healthy, happy girl! Most days she is down to 5 feedings, and we started solid foods this week. So far she is enjoying sweet potatoes!

In the past 3 weeks, she has found her toes and really enjoys grabbing them whatever chance she gets. Its become another favorite activity on the changing table especially. She rarely rolls over but continues to do better and better with tummy time. She is so strong its amazing how well and how long she can hold that head up!

Zoe continues to be quite the talker and has now added a sort of growl to her repertoire. She seems to wind up and push her chest out when she does it, so we call it her Godzilla impression. We usually know she is awake in the morning by hearing her babbles over the monitor and she seems quite content to talk away until one of us (usually Daddy) rescues her from her crib. Its so nice when she wakes up happy and content! She and Daddy will often hang out together for a bit in the morning until I can pull myself out of bed. I'm still not a morning person and 7:30 comes so early it seems. Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful that she sleeps thru the night and consistently lets us sleep until 7:30 or sometimes even 8. The later the better for me :-)

While we have some bad days here and there, and there are things that just aren't as easy or fast as they used to be, we're so very thankful for our little girl. Life is not the same, its even better.
